It’s Silicon Valley’s Next Top Pet where each week we feature another animal in need of their forever home! Join us and Silicon Valley Pet Project as we help save animals from Silicon Valley’s largest shelter, San Jose Animal Care Center (SJACC).
This Week’s Next Top Pet is Rizzo!
Rizzo is a sweet miniature poodle-terrier mix that was sadly hit by a car, resulting in a broken pelvis and an amputation. Good News, she’s recovering beautifully and while she’s not allowed to jump on and off furniture or exert herself too much, she’s really loving life in her foster home. She loves snuggling in her bed, hanging out on the dog pillow in the kitchen enjoying the good smells while her foster mom cooks, chewing on bully sticks, and going to town on stuffed Kongs! She especially looks forward to meal and treat times… she’s a good eater!
She gets along well with other dogs but is ambivalent about cats. She is house trained; in fact, she has never had an accident in her foster home. She always gives signals when she needs to go by pacing or circling. She also learned to use the doggy door in her foster home by watching the resident dogs.
While not fully recovered from her injuries quite yet, we’re looking forward to finding her forever family. If you’ve got a lot of love to give and you might need a sweet, wildly affectionate, three-legged poodle mix in your life; Rizzo may be the gal for you!
